Anna lindh forum-2010 wraps up meeting with high hopes for union for the mediterranean

Barcelona – The 2010 Anna Lindh Forum for Intercultural Dialogue concluded on Sunday in Barcelona its meetings focusing on the role of civil society in the Union for the Mediterranean, said President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, André Azoulay.
The three-day gathering was marked by the active participation of Palestinian representatives of civil society besides their Mediterranean peers, said Azoulay, affirming that the conclusions worked out by the participants helped to underline the importance of culture in the Mediterranean union.
He also stressed the success of the Anna Lindh forum which contributed to enriching the euro-Mediterranean partnership and restoring trust and shared values.
Participants in the Barcelona Forum discussed several issues related to intercultural relations between Mediterranean peoples and the role of civil society networks in sharing pioneering experiences and building new partnerships at the local and international levels.
Participants also reviewed the priorities of civil society actors, stressing the importance of cultural citizenship and enhancing coordination and dialogue between Mediterranean regional networks in order to respond collectively to the challenges of unemployment and the impact of the global economic crisis.
