Paris – France has called on the European Union and Morocco to « deepen and consolidate the progress » achieved at their first summit, held last weekend in Granada, Spain, French Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
It also said France « supports the agreement on the liberalisation of services, due to come into force before the end of the year. »
« France commends the holding of this first summit, which is also the first summit between the EU and a neighbouring country from the South, » Bernard Valero, the spokesman for the Quai d’Orsay, said at press briefing.
He added that the summit marked an important step, as it enabled Moroccans and Europeans to discuss everything at the highest level, in a climate of trust.
“It falls to all of us now to deepen and consolidate this progress and pursue the efforts made in all areas,” he said, recalling that Morocco was the first country to get an advanced status in relations with the EU.
