Moroccan delegation in cairo to offer hm the king’s condolences on death of al-azhar imam

Cairo – Upon instructions of HM king Mohammed VI, a delegation headed on Friday for Cairo to give HM the king’s condolences following the death of the Al-Azhar imam Sheikh Mohamed Sayed Tantaoui.
The delegation is composed of Mohamed Moatassim, advisor to HM the king, and of Ahmed Touafiq, minister of Islamic Affairs, accompanied by Mohamed Faraj Doukkali, Morocco’s ambassador in Cairo.
A number of Egyptian officials and Sheikhs of Al-Azhar stressed the solicitude HM the King had for the imam, who died on Wednesday of a heart attack in Riyadh, at the age of 82.
They extended thanks to the sovereign for this noble gesture, noting the special relation that used to link the monarch and the imam.
HM the king had sent a message of condolence to the Egyptian president and to the deceased’s family, emphasizing the qualities of a man who “devoted his life to serve Islam and Muslims, spread the teachings and precepts of Islam, make the word of God prevail and uphold our religion’s lofty causes. »
