Speaker of morocco’s lower house meets head of ep delegation for relations with maghreb

Amman – Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives (upper house), Mustapha Mansouri, met, on Saturday in Amman, the new president of the European Parliament’s (EP) delegation for relations with Maghreb countries, Pier Antoine Panzeri.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 6th session of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (EMPA), examined issues of common interest, the activation of trade between the two institutions and means to promote cooperation relations between the countries of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) and the European Union (EU).
The two parties agreed to step up the implementation of the special Morocco-EP commission, whose creation was decided within the framework of the advanced status granted to Morocco in its relations with the EU.
On the Sahara issue, Panzeri, also member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the European Parliament, has commended the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco.
He emphasized the need to seek solutions to problems that figure on the agenda of discussions between the countries of the Maghreb region and those facing the north shore of the Mediterranean.
Mansouri voiced the « firm commitment » of the Moroccan parliament to move forward in its relations with the European Parliament, expressing hope that both parties will achieve mutually beneficial results.
